Hallway Plants

Hallways are the place to make an impression: they’re the first room your guests will see when they enter your home, after all.

IT'S LIT!

A house plant shop selling candles? Yes – you heard it here first, folks! Here at Quirky plants, we supply a range of complimentary products that help us on our mission: to create a greener, happier, healthier planet for all.

OUR RECOMMENDED HALLWAY PLANTS

We love adding greenery to drab, under appreciated spaces and your hallway is the perfect place to do just this. What’s more, as this is a low-light space, we only recommend very easy-maintenance plants, so our handpicked selection contains only the easiest and hardiest of species. There’ll be no accidentally killing off your favourite plant with this lot.

With a range of small, tall and even trailing plants, our hallway options should fit even the smallest or most unusual spaces. Whichever you choose, you can expect a warm welcome every time you step home.

GIVE A GREEN WELCOME

Strike the right note with a hallway plant, which will add vibrance to an otherwise boring and under noticed part of the home. The best thing about introducing plants to your hallway is that they don’t have to take up much room. A tall and thin houseplant will make a good hallway plant by brightening up your space in an out-of-the-way spot, and can fit next to a console table, underneath a coat rack or even on a shelf high above the floor.

MEET YOUR BRAND-NEW DOORMAN

Say hello to your guests in style with a lush new plant doorman. He’ll welcome your guests in and make your home feel colourful and full of life

THE KENTIA PALM

Kentia the Kentia palm is the best plant for the hallway entrance. He is tall, slender and very stylish. His stems grow upwards rather than out so he will be out of the way. The Kentia palm is happy in any light conditions but does like a regular mist to keep his foliage looking fresh.

MONTY THE MONSTERA

Monty the monstera on a pole is a great entrance hall plant. He’s a resilient plant that will be happy in any lighting conditions. He won’t be fussed by frequently opened doors or a draughty hallway.

FIONA THE FICUS LYRATA

For the sunny entrance hallway, check out Fiona the fiddle leaf fig. Her long and tall shape makes her easy to place in a small hallway. She will be happy in any bright, indirect light.

IAN THE CAST-IRON PLANT

Ian the Aspidistra elatior (also known as the cast-iron plant) is a great hallway plant. He’s really happy in any light conditions but prefers to be in shade. Put him in your shady entrance hall and he will continue to thrive. He’s also pet safe and air purifying.

FAQs

Which plants are good for dark hallways?

Finding the best hallway plant will depend on how much light your plant needs. The plants we recommend here are plants that can survive in dark spaces, meaning they’re a perfect fit, whatever your hallway environment might be like.

Take Maya the parlour palm. She has been used as a hallway entrance plant for many years - since the Victorian age in fact. She is considered a hard-to-kill plant and, as her foliage is narrow, tall and leafy, she’ll look good in your hallway without taking up a huge amount of space.

If you’re looking for a trailing plant that could find its new home on a shelf or side table to place in the hallway, Eddie the golden pothos or Marble the silver pothos are both good hallway plants and will continue to grow without sunlight.
