ABOUT OUR PHILODENDRON XANADU
Hey, I’m the Philodendron Xanadu. I think we’re going to be good friends so please feel free to call me Xavier. The best thing about me is that I’m very easy to care for and I look amazing (if I do say so myself). I have long and thin leaves with attractive light green veins. I sort of look like a plant from another planet. My large leaves do a fantastic job at removing common toxins from the air which will help you breathe a little easier.
I’m native to Brazil but unlike other tropical plants I don’t need regular watering and high humidity to thrive. I’m a drought tolerant plant so going a few weeks without water is no problem for me. I will prefer a well lit room but I’m adaptable to my surroundings and do just fine in a room with smaller windows. I’m the perfect plant for the autumn and winter months when the days are shorter and there’s less sunshine.
For first time plant owners or the forgetful waterer I’m the perfect choice for you. Allow my attractive leaves to breathe new life into your home.
Height (including nursery pot) 65-70cm; pot diameter 19cm.
DID YOU KNOW?
Xavier was originally grown to be intended as a hybrid until his species was later found in its natural habitat of the Amazon rainforest.
Xavier has a bold and striking look that can easily be maintained with little work.
QUICK PHILODENDRON XANADU PLANT CARE
Xavier is one of the rarer Philodendrons but is still just as easy going and adaptable to different types of environments.
I’m happy in a bright or medium light. The more natural light I get the faster I will grow.
I’m happy to go a few weeks without water. Make sure my soil dries out before you water me again.
I can tolerate a room with low humidity. For a little humidity boost you can use a peble tray underneath Xavier’s pot.
A monthly fertiliser is enough to keep me happy throughout the growing season. Do not fertilise me in the winter months.

THINGS WE ALWAYS GET ASKED
How do you care for a Philodendron Xanadu?
The Philodendron Xanadu is easy to care for and is ideal for anyone who is just starting their plant journey. Place Xavier in a room with plenty of natural light but not close to any windows that could allow direct sunlight to shine on his leaves. Like most tropical plants he prefers temperatures of at least 18ºC but can tolerate the cold better than other species from Brazil. Only water Xavier when his soil is on the drier side. If the first two inches of soil still feel moist to touch then it’s not time for a drink yet. Xavier can go a few weeks at a time without water so he’s perfect for the frequent traveller and forgetful waterer.
Can Xanadu plants be in full sun?
If possible keep Xavier away from any direct sunlight especially in the summer months when the sun is much stronger. Keep Xavier a meter away from a big window to avoid burning any of his attractive foliage.
Are Philodendrons good indoor plants?
The Philodendron species are an ideal indoor plant as they prefer indirect light and warm temperatures. Philondendrons will not make a fuss if placed in a room without high levels of humidity so they are well suited to an entrance hall or living room.
PLANT STYLING TIPS
Xavier has an attractive and striking look which is perfect for attracting attention in an entrance hall or living room. Due to Xavier's hardiness he can be placed in a dry or darker part of the home and won’t kick up a fuss. Take a look at Kentia the Kentia palm or Maya the Parlour palm to find Xavier a friend who will match his look perfectly.
