ABOUT OUR NOLINA RECURVATA
Hello, I’m Percy. I’m sure you know me as the ponytail palm or the elephant's foot. The nickname elephant’s foot came from the base of my trunk resembling the foot of an elephant. This is where I store all my water which is why I think I'm just as hardy as an elephant. I bet you’re here to admire my luxurious head of hair which as an added bonus is very easy to maintain. I won’t have a meltdown if you forget to water me - in fact I would actually prefer it.
Despite my name I’m not technically a palm and I’m part of the Nolia genus and the Arecaceae family. I’m found in the Mexican desert where I can tolerate a dry and hot climate. The perfect indoor temperature for me is 18-30°C so I would much prefer being put in the warmest and sunniest part of the home. My foliage can tolerate direct sunlight, hot weather and dry spaces. What’s not to like?
My gorgeous locks can take some serious heat and I would love it if you could place me in your sunny conservatory or by a south facing window.
Small Height (including nursery pot) 40cm; pot diameter 14cm.
