ABOUT OUR DRACAENA DEREMENSIS WARNECKII
Hi there, I’m Wilson. You might know me as the corn plant, cane plant or fragrant dracaena. If you’re new to this plant thing or looking for another leafy friend, I’m a perfect tropical beauty for your sunny home. I’m one of the most popular houseplants due to my groovy stripes and easy-going nature. My tall and slender figure will make a statement in an entrance hall or hallway.
You can find me all over the continent of Africa where my wavy leaves tolerate hot temperatures and dry air. In all there's over 100 species of Dracaena each with their own individual look. My brother Drake is part of the same family as me - although he’s not nearly as cool. Just kidding we’re competing to see who’s more popular. You don’t need to fuss over me. I can be left to my own devices. If you notice my leaves turning brown - that’s a sign to tell you I’m ready for a dink.
My elegant charm and easy-care nature makes me a sure winner for houseplant beginners and enthusiasts. No wonder I’m one of the most popular houseplants around.
Medium Height (including nursery pot) 70-75cm; pot diameter 17cm.

THINGS WE ALWAYS GET ASKED
How do you take care of a corn plant?
Wilson is a happy-go-lucky plant with a laid back attitude. Allow his soil to dry out a little before you water him again. Any soggy or wet soil will upset his root system. He will be happy in most lighting conditions and will forgive the forgetful waterer. If possible use filtered or rain water to help keep any brown tips away but this is not essential for his survival. His tolerant nature makes him an ideal plant to place in a draughty hallway or dark landing that doesn't get a lot of natural light.
How much light does a Dracaena need?
The Dracaena species do prefer a well lit room but luckily are very tolerant of medium or low lighting. He makes a perfect indoor plant for British homes especially in the winter months when daylight is limited.
How big do corn plants get?
As a houseplant, the corn plant will grow a maximum height of 1.5 metres. They’re slow growing plants especially if placed in a low/medium lit room. The corn plant will grow at a faster rate in a bright spot with regular fertilising in the growth season (March - September).
