    FAQs

Can any plant survive without light?

While all houseplants need some natural light to survive, many indoor houseplants will continue to grow without sunlight. That said, houseplants raised in shady spots won’t grow as fast as they would if they were able to catch some rays and some flowering plants won’t flower at all if they’re kept in the dark.

Which plants do well in low light?

Conrad the dumb cane plant is a shade loving houseplant. He is a good beginner plant and will continue to grow in a shady spot - just beware as his leaves are very toxic to pets and children. He should be placed in a spot away from any pets or children as his leaves are very toxic.

For a larger plant, Drake the dracaena, aka the corn plant will continue to grow happily in the shade. Find him an out-of-the-way spot in your kitchen (he’s slim and pretty slender so doesn’t need much space) or give him the humidity he craves with a home in your bathroom.

For a low light bathroom plant, Marble the silver pothos and Eddie the golden pothos both come as a trailing plant option or on a moss pole. They are both indoor plants that don’t need sunlight and will continue to grow. The pothos family is a group of plants that are hard-to-kill and great for any beginner.
